The argument about coffee prices got really bad, really fast.
When you think about a problem at work, you probably don't think about a broken car window.
But in Seattle, a big problem happened between a barista and a customer.
It wasn't just a regular argument or a simple misunderstanding. It turned into something much bigger and more serious.
Emma Lee, who works at a coffee stand called A Taste of Heaven Espresso, found herself in a very heated argument with a customer.
This argument ended with Emma being seen on CCTV footage breaking a customer’s car window with a hammer. Yes, a hammer!
It all started when the customer, who comes to the coffee stand quite often, ordered his usual drinks: a 32-ounce coffee and a 24-ounce water.
This customer is well-known to Emma because he visits regularly and typically orders the same items.
On this particular day, the total for his order came to $22. This was the standard price for the drinks he requested.
Emma usually gives him a small discount, charging him $20 instead of the full price.
"The argument that he didn't know or was scammed doesn't hold up. The prices are listed."
The customer argued that he didn’t know the prices and said Emma was cheating him.
Emma said the man also told her, "Nobody is going to miss you."
She said he screamed and spat at her and tried to open the window. Then he threw his drinks at her.
After that, Emma reached out of her stand and used a hammer to break the windshield of the man's car.
She called the police and filed charges against him for assault. Now, the customer is banned from the coffee stand.
Even though she might have to go to court, Emma, who serves coffee while wearing swimwear, isn’t worried.
